The purest field watch in production — no date, no rotor, an 80-hour hand-wound reserve, and dial printing Hamilton has barely changed since the military contract originals.
The H-50 is the point. It is an ETA-derived hand-wound calibre reworked for a slower beat and a much longer reserve, which means a watch you wind on Monday morning is still running when you pick it up on Thursday. No rotor also means a thinner case and a caseback you can leave solid, which is exactly what a field watch wants.
What holds the score back is value against its own stablemates and the class below it: at $500 street, this watch is competing with a Citizen that carries four times the water resistance and an ISO rating, and with Seiko divers at only twice the price. It wins on character, not on the spec sheet.
