What the spec sheet says.

Tissot publishes the numbers plainly: 40mm across, 10.9mm thick, 100m of water resistance and the Powermatic 80 running at a leisurely 21,600vph to bank an 80-hour reserve. On the wrist those numbers translate to the whole trick of the integrated genre — a watch that wears flatter and wider than its diameter suggests, disappearing under a cuff that a diver of the same size would snag.

The bracelet remains the argument. Brushed flat links, butterfly clasp, no visible screws at this price from anyone else who takes themselves seriously. The clasp has no micro-adjust — the single specification where the benchmark shows its cost ceiling, and the first thing we would tell Tissot to fix.

What it doesn’t say.

The Powermatic 80’s silicon balance spring shrugs at magnetism, but the 21,600vph beat gives the seconds hand a faintly stepped sweep that bothers exactly the kind of person who reads reviews like this one. The dial’s waffle texture photographs better than it reads at arm’s length. Neither changes the verdict; both belong in it.

Worth the hype?

Yes, and the reason is comparative rather than sentimental. Christopher Ward’s The Twelve beats it on case thickness, beat rate and clasp adjustment, and costs roughly double for those three wins while giving up half the power reserve. That is a real choice, and a defensible one. But if the question is which integrated-steel watch to recommend to someone who has not yet decided how much they care, the PRX is still the answer, and it has been for four years.
